Hello. It’s me, Gorcott Hall. You’ve seen my photos (thank you for noticing the oak beams and original 16th-century charm). But have you ever wondered what it’s really like being a wedding venue in August?

Let me take you behind the scenes. Think of this as Bridgerton meets Bake Off, but with more laughter, wildflowers, and at least one groomsman dramatically fanning himself with a menu.

Spoiler: I host weddings any day of the week, and August is one of my busiest, brightest and most beautiful times of year.

1 - I’m HOT (and not just because I’m Grade II listed)

Let’s start with the obvious. August brings that glorious late-summer sun. I’ve seen guests sunbathing on the lawn before the ceremony, bridesmaids requesting shade like VIPs, and caterers navigating the perfect ice-to-Prosecco ratio like pros.

But when golden hour hits across the gardens and fields? Trust me, it’s worth every bit of SPF.

2. My Garden Is a Catwalk (for Dogs, Too)

With flowers in full bloom and dragonflies zipping over the water, my gardens are practically made for August weddings. Couples wander hand-in-hand past the roses, guests sip spritzes under parasols, and occasionally a well-dressed dachshund makes a special appearance.

The cameras love me this time of year. And I’m not even smug about it (well, maybe a little).

3. Rain? Maybe. Magic? Always.

Yes, even August can bring a cheeky downpour (it is the UK after all). But I’m ready. My indoor ceremony space is warm, elegant and intimate, perfect for turning a change of plan into a wow moment.

Bonus: the post-rain scent in the walled garden? Divine.

4. The Shoes Come Off Around Sunset

As the sun dips and the fairy lights start to glow, I’ve seen guests kick off their heels, roll up their sleeves and head straight for the dancefloor. There’s something about an August evening that just hits differently, relaxed, romantic, and a little bit wild (in a good way).

5. I Love Love (And Sparkler Moments)

By the end of the night, with laughter still echoing and the stars peeking out over the oak trees, I feel it, that gentle stillness that says this was special. I may have centuries of history behind me, but August weddings still give me goosebumps.

Whether it’s a Tuesday elopement, a Thursday celebration, or a weekend of festivities, I’m here for it all.
